Grow in Faith

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for,
the conviction
of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1

There’s no ‘levels’ in Christianity – remember faith is a gift. It’s not something we can earn; it comes from God. Ask God to strengthen your faith.

Perhaps you’ve been a Christian for a while though, and you want to refocus.

There’s some good ways to do this:

  • Start by praying more, or longer! Spend time with God, so the Holy spirit can work in you.
  • Read a bit of the bible every day. Maybe use a resource like ****** to help you.
  • Some people even commit to read the whole Bible in one year (see resources under ‘new Christian’ above.
  • Get some accountability by meeting up with a Christian friend
  • Help in a ministry of the church – learn from others while doing stuff together.
  • Be the one to run a church ministry and watch the Kingdom grow!

As you go refocus, be ‘confident of this, that He who began a good work in you, will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus’ (Philippians 1:6)

If being with other people would help, join a bible study group. The word study makes it sound boring, but it’s about reading the bible with others, chatting, friendship, support, and usually food!

But if you want to go deeper:

  • Do a more bespoke course, like ‘Building a Discipling Culture’(BDC).
  • Consider further, or tertiary, study. Morling College – Australia’s Baptist Theological College runs short courses online, as well as university-level studies.
  • Go on a mission trip
  • Be the one to run a church ministry and watch the Kingdom grow!

We want our lives to line up with what the Bible says, but that can be tough. Christians aren’t perfect. We’re just forgiven!

Everyone has highs and lows in their spiritual life, when God feels close or further away. If you are struggling with your faith for whatever reason, it’s OK to tell us.

We find when it’s hard, it’s helpful to do these things:

  • Talk to a trusted Christian friend
  • Let a Pastor or leader know and get guidance.
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to help your doubts
  • Read the Psalms in a translation you aren’t used to (like the Message)

Remember God is bigger than our doubts.

Remember faith is a gift. It’s not something we can earn; it comes from God. Ask God to strengthen your faith.

Remember God loves us despite our weaknesses.

Remember God forgives.
