The church is in the inner south suburb of Hughes, next to a primary school and just down the road from the local shops.

There’s plenty of onsite parking, front and rear.

If you are catching a bus. Catch bus 57 from Woden or the City. Journey time is circa 20 mins. Get off at the Hughes Shops, and it’s a 5 minute walk just around the corner to the church.

What to expect

Our church family comes from all walks and stages of life and many cultural backgrounds.

We also welcome Defence families and foreign diplomats on posting to Canberra. You are part of the family, even if only here a few years. We are near the Canberra Hospital, so medical staff who work shifts and are with us when they can be.

When you arrive, someone will welcome you.

You can sit anywhere you feel comfortable – in the main room, in the foyer. There's no reserved chairs.

Come as you are! Some are comfortable in ‘Sunday best’, some prefer casual. We’d rather you came than worry about what to wear. One thing though, in Winter, dress warm. The church is heated, but Canberra morning temperatures are an experience!

Children are part of our family too.

On Sunday morning, there’s a creche for littlies, plus there is comfortable seating in the foyer from where you can enjoy the service if children need to let off steam.

Children and youth also go out to Lighthouse Kids (age 3 to school year 6) and HBC Junior Youth (school years 7-9) halfway through the service.

In the morning service there’s prayer, bible reading, a children’s talk and sermon. Sometimes there’s interviews with mission teams or church people to hear about what’s going on in and outside the church.

The music is contemporary with a few hymns, led by volunteer musicians and singers. There are 5 rotating music teams on roster.

The service ends between 10:30 am and 11 am.

Then there’s morning tea and barista coffee on the back veranda. If you are new, your first coffee is free!

The evening service is more casual. The smaller format means a more intimate feel. It's a service that can suit some shift workers.

There’s music, prayer and bible readings. The sermon is usually a repeat of the morning service.

Supper is provided each week. We’d love to see you there!
